John D. Graber, 78, died Saturday evening at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. He had been in declining health the past three months.
He was born July 12, 1934, in LaGrange County, to Daniel and Katie (Hostetler) Graber. On June 17, 1956, in LaGrange County, he married Betty Gingerich. She survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Rhonda (Allen) Falls, Middlebury, and Jeanie (Kevin) Koch, Goshen; a son, Darryl (Crystal) Graber, Goshen; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one stepgrandson and one stepgreat-grandson; and two sisters, Anna Lambright, LaGrange, and Fannie Mast, Shipshewana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Levi, Sam, Melvin, Milo and Tobe Graber; and two sisters, Lizzie Schrock and Ada Nisley.
He was owner-operator of Graber Well Drilling since 1983, enjoyed coon hunting, snowmobiling, going on fishing trips and was a diehard White Sox fan.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Gary Martin. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.
