Freeman R. Miller

March 14, 1932-Sept. 8, 2010

BRISTOL —

Freeman R. Miller, 78, died at 12:56 a.m. Wednesday at Elkhart General Hospital. He had been in declining health.

He was born March 14, 1932 in Goshen, to Robert W. and Lizzie (Hershberger) Miller.

He married Phyllis A. Chupp Dec. 24, 1955, in Goshen. She died April 1, 2001.

He was a plumber for Schult Homes, Middlebury, for more than 30 years. He retired in 1997. He was a member of Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, where he volunteered as a sound tech for several years. He did his 1W service at a hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich. He loved his cats, Sassy and Rosie, and enjoyed spending time on the internet, keeping up with family and friends through e-mail. He loved spending time with the grandchildren, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia "Cyndi" Miller and Sharon Brown both of Bristol; two foster daughters, Rachel Davis of Bristol and Patricia Hostetler of Elkhart; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four foster grandchildren; and four foster great-grandchildren; four sisters, Katie Bontrager of Middlebury, Edna Miller and Lydia Ann Miller both of Goshen, and Wilma Yoder of Missouri; four brothers, William Miller of Middlebury, Levi Miller and Amos Miller both of Goshen and John Miller of Shipshewana. He was preceded in death by both parents; his stepmother, Ida Miller; two brothers; and two brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury, and one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service Saturday at Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, Goshen. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Stanley Miller.

Burial will be in Clinton Brick Cemetery, Goshen.

Memorials may be given to Clinton Brick Mennonite Church.
