Dallas D. Wakley

April 19, 1943-June 28, 2012

GOSHEN — Dallas D. Wakley, 69, Goshen, died 1:16 p.m. Thursday at Golden Living Center, Elkhart.  He was born April 19, 1943 in Potatca, New York, to Vera (Ressler) and Ernest Wakley. He married Louise (Stidams) VanNess Wakley on Nov. 22, 1986.

Surviving are his wife, Louise; daughters, Beth A. VanNess and Roberta S. VanNess, both of Goshen; sons, Michael Wakley, Brookville, Fla., Warren D. (Lori) VanNess, Millersburg, and Tony (Heather) Wakley, Fishers; sister, Lois Yoder, Goshen; brothers, Nelson (Karen) Wakley, Fort Wayne, and Ralph (Sharon) Wakley, Nappanee; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are granddaughters, Rachel VanNess and Heather Stephens, a brother, Kenneth Wakley, and a son, Jamie Wakley.

Dallas was a 1961 graduate of New Paris High School and member of the First Presbyterian Church, Goshen. He worked at IXL; drove truck and did warehouse work; worked at Goshen Rubber and Western Rubber and also at Agriengineering, New Paris, for 15 years.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 2, with the service following at 7:30 p.m. at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen.  The Rev. Dave Hackney of the New Paris Missionary Church will officiate.
