Sue Ellen Swihart

Jan. 22, 1952-July 7, 2012

GOSHEN —  Sue Ellen Swihart, 60, died Saturday afternoon at Courtyard Healthcare. She had been ill since April.

She was born in Goshen Jan. 22, 1952 to Frank and Betty (Garber) Luke. She was raised by her grandparents, John and Edith Luke.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Swihart, Bristol; and a sister, Kay (Jerry) Mabie, Goshen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents, Abe and Florence Garber and John and Edith Luke.

A lifetime resident of the area and a 1970 graduate of Northridge High School, Sue worked at Walmart as cashier service manager since 1994.  

She was a very active member of First United Church of Christ. She was a member of the American Legion.  She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and a 4-H adviser. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and reading.  

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a 1 p.m. Wednesday funeral service will be conducted. Family friend, Rev. Dick Dunn will officiate.

Burial will follow in Gracelawn Cemetery, Middlebury.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Church of Christ or Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
