David E. Stahly

GOSHEN — David E. Stahly, 71, died at his home Thursday afternoon.  He had been ill since August.

He was born Oct. 11, 1941 in Bluffton, to Albert Merle and Lois (Gilliom) Stahly.

He married Karen Susanna Good June 12, 1965, in Fort Wayne.

She survives along with a son, Brian (Sonja) Stahly, Carmel; two daughters, Lisa (Andrew) DeHart, Belton, Texas, and Heather (Scott) Palmer, Carmel; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Gregory (Shelley) Stahly, Kiawah, S.C.

A school administrator, Mr. Stahly graduated in 1959 from Berne French High School, in 1963 from DePauw University and in 1965 from Indiana University, Bloomington, with a master’s degree in education.

A Goshen resident since 2000, Mr. Stahly was a member of Plymouth United Church of Christ where he did visitation and served as church treasurer since 2002.  He was also a member of the Goshen Noon Kiwanis Club, the Goshen Photography Guild and volunteered with Goshen Care at Home Hospice.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, riding his scooter and traveling.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Revs. David Boothby and Linda Sue Hewitt, both of Plymouth United Church of Christ, will officiate.

Cremation will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Plymouth United Church of Christ or Goshen Care at Home Hospice.
