John R. Lantzer

Dec. 27, 1933-Nov. 13, 2012

GOSHEN — John R. Lantzer, 78, died Tuesday morning at IU Health Goshen Hospital.

He was born Dec. 27, 1933 in Elkhart County, to Devon and Hazel (Carter) Lantzer.

He married Margaret “Peg” Schrock Feb. 5, 1953, in Benton. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Jeff S. (Sara) Lantzer, Jay S. (Melanie) Lantzer, both of Goshen, and Jack D. (Juanita ) Lantzer, Wakarusa; seven grandchildren, Jason (Erin) Lantzer, Jennifer (Toby) Mishler, Justin Lantzer, Missy (Jeff) Valderrama, Vanessa Lantzer, A.J. (Tiffany) Lantzer and Amanda Osborne; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Devon Lantzer Jr.

Mr. Lantzer graduated from Millersburg High School in 1951. He was active in basketball and track and field events, competing in the 440 at the state level.

A lifelong resident of the area, he was part owner and operator of L&M Electric for 16 years.

A private family service has been scheduled.  Yoder-Culp Funeral Home in Goshen is assisting with arrangements.
