GOSHEN —
John Neal Barber, 92, formerly of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away Monday at Greencroft Goshen Health Care following a brief illness.
Born Nov. 11, 1919 in Cedarville, Ohio, Neal was the son of Lawrence and Hazel (McCoy) Barber and graduated from Xenia High School in 1937.
On March 29, 1946, he married Emma Mae Stebbins. They were married for 60 years.
Neal was an active member of the Linden Road Presbyterian Church in Mansfield, serving as an elder, stewardship chair, Sunday school teacher and he sang in the choir.
Neal retired after 35 years from the National Cash Register Company, beginning as a salesman in Muncie and Fort Wayne and Dayton and Hamilton, Ohio, ending in Mansfield, Ohio, where he served as district manager of finance from 1957 to 1981.
Neal is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Alayne Barber of Providence, Utah; and daughter and son-in-law, Katie and John Cunningham of Goshen; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Barber; and his daughter and son-in-law. Ellen Elizabeth and Stephen Day.
The family will receive friends Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Greencroft Meeting House, 1751 Greencroft Blvd., Goshen.
The funeral will take place in Mansfield, Ohio, at the Linden Road Presbyterian Church June 15 with visitation one hour before the 11 a.m. service.
