Linea Yvonne Geiser

June 3, 1936-Feb. 4, 2010

Linea Yvonne Geiser, 73, 610 Revere Drive, Goshen, died Thursday at 5 a.m. under hospice care in her home.

She was born June 3, 1936 in Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada, to John H.W. and Anna (Toews) Reimer. She moved to Goshen in 1979.

A graduate of Goshen College, she taught elementary education for seven years in the Orrville, Ohio, public school system and wrote educational materials for Mennonite Publishing House.

After moving to the Goshen area, she received a master’s of divinity degree from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary. She worked at Mennonite Mission Network for 10 years as a church relations writer, specializing in mission education and prayer ministry. She was an active member and an elder of College Mennonite Church, where she taught adult and children’s education classes.

Throughout her adult life, Mrs. Geiser enjoyed and wrote poetry, publishing a book of poems in 2003. She had a love for her flower gardens.

She married Leonard R. Geiser Aug. 17, 1956, in Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada. He survives.

Also surviving are her daughter, Erin Geiser, Minneapolis, Minn.; two sons, Jonathan (Toni) Geiser, Goshen, and Ned (Marie Harnish) Geiser, Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, Atlee and Haven Schrock, Nathan, Hannah, Luke, Indigo and Devon Geiser; five sisters, Naomi Lepp, Steinbach, Elizabeth Bartel Victoria, B.C., Wendy Rempel, Eugene, Ore., Martini Janz, Goshen, and Hildie Terry, Little Rock, Ark.

Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, where the memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Klaudia Smucker will officiate.

There will be a private family burial service.

Memorial contributions may be made to College Mennonite Church Jubilee Fund or the Mennonite Central Committee Aid for Haiti.

The family expresses appreciation to the Goshen Hospital Center for Cancer Care and Care At Home Hospice Services for their gentle and professional care of Linea.
