NAPPANEE — Maryevelyn Acord, 90, died Wednesday at 8:01 a.m.

She was born May 3, 1922 in Randolph County, to Marvin and Ethel (Winget) Chalfant.

She married Ralph Earl Acord Nov. 27, 1946, in Selma. He died Dec. 18, 1999.

She is survived by her son, Alan (Marcia) Acord, Nappanee; and a grandson, Doug Acord, Goshen.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Chalfant.

She graduated in 1940 from Selma High School and in 1944 from Ball State University. She was a homemaker and a high school teacher of home economics and business education in Rossville.

Friends may call Friday from 2:30 until the 4:30 p.m. funeral service at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. The Rev. Jeremiah Olson of Grace Community Church of Goshen will officiate.

Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery, Muncie.

Memorial contributions may be made to the 4-H Swine Club of Elkhart County.
