Donald R. Edwards

June 25, 1932-April 30, 2012

BRISTOL —  Donald R. Edwards, 79, passed away at his home at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

He was born June 25, 1932 in South Bend, to Clifford and Margaret Rose (Mann) Edwards.

On Nov. 28, 1954, he married Patricia Mackey in South Bend.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Jennifer (Bill) Albaugh, Betsy Carmean and Amy (Doug) Wardlow, all of Elkhart; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles D. Edwards.

Donald graduated from Riley High School in South Bend. He was a Korean War veteran. He worked as a purchasing agent for Skyline for 14 years and LaSalle Bristol for 15 years. He also worked at Lane McDuff for three years.

He was a member of the Masons, SAR, Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge. Donald was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 36 in South Bend. He also volunteered at Elkhart General Hospital and the RV Hall of Fame. He enjoyed grilling and smoking food for family and friends and hosted a yearly pig roast for more than 25 years.

There will be a memorial service for Donald at a later date.

Cremation and service arrangements have been entrusted to Elkhart Cremation Services.
