Elizabeth Helmuth

TOPEKA — Elizabeth Helmuth, 86, of Topeka, died at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday at her residence.

She was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Haven, Kan., to Benjamin and Malinda (Miller) Borntrager.

On Nov. 26, 1946, she married John A. Helmuth; he died Nov. 30, 2012.

Surviving are three daughters, Wilma (Harley) Schlabach of Topeka, Polly (Glen) Graber of Millersburg, Marietta (Lloyd) Schlabach of Ligonier; daughter-in-law, Martha (Nelson) Schlabach of Topeka; five sons, LeRoy Helmuth of Shipshewana, Fritz (Tina) Helmuth and Richard (Sara) Helmuth both of Topeka, Ernest (Mary) Helmuth of Millersburg, Dennis (Niva) Helmuth of Topeka; 47 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Galloway of Ligonier; brother-in-law, Freeman S. (Mary Anna) Miller of Topeka.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Wilbur Helmuth, one granddaughter, her parents, five sisters and three brothers.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Friday and all day Saturday at the family residence, 8365 W. 700 S. Topeka.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday also at the family residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Glen Lambright and the home ministers.

Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is assisting with arrangements.
