Sherwood Russell Cripe

Oct. 7, 1938-Dec. 22, 2012

Syracuse — Sherwood Russell Cripe, 74, passed away at his home early Saturday morning. He had been in failing health for the past three months.

Mr. Cripe was born in Goshen, on Oct. 7, 1938, to Russell S. and Violette (Kettering) Cripe. He lived in this area his whole life.

He is survived by three sons; Jerry S. (Nelda) Cripe and Chad R. Cripe, both of Syracuse, and Greg L. (Elizabeth) Cripe, Bristol; five grandchildren, John, Steven, and Scott Cripe, Angel Smith, Jamie Jarausch; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Deborah Jarausch; and three sisters, Jacqueline Cobbs, Sharon Pike, and Gwendolyn Donat.

Mr. Cripe worked as body shop manager for 10 years at Bob Ford and as a younger man played in a band called “The Dukes.”

Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.

A graveside service will be conducted at Violett Cemetery immediately following visitation hours.

Memorial contributions may be given to I.U. Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care.
