Benjamin Jacob Reschly

GOSHEN — Benjamin Jacob Reschly, 77, died Friday morning at Courtyard Healthcare where he had been since Nov. 2009 battling Alzheimer’s.

He was born Jan. 25, 1935 in Henry County, Iowa to Harry and Fanny (Conrad) Reschly.

He married Margery F. Gerber Oct. 4, 1958 in Orville, Ohio. She survives.

Also surviving are two children, Sonya D. Reschly, Rochester, N.Y. and Bryon J. (Debra) Reschly, Bristol; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Brianna, both of Goshen; two sisters, Kathryn Lehmann, Fort Wayne and Elsie (Stanley) Burkholder, Washington, Iowa; and three brothers, Marion (Opal) Reschly, Crawfordsville, Iowa, Raymond (Wava) Reschly, Kalona, Iowa and Vernon (Laura) Reschly, Nowata, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daryl Lynn Reschly; a sister, Vera Buchanon; and two brothers, Willard and Orlin Reschly.

A Goshen resident since 1956, Mr. Reschly worked for the original Salem Bank in Goshen and retired as a loan officer for Key Bank in 1990 after 27 years in the banking business.

A member of Grace Community Church, he enjoyed fixing things, motorcycle trips and taking his grandchildren camping.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m., Wednesday funeral service will be conducted. Pastors Jim Brown and Jeremiah Olson, Grace Community Church, will officiate.

Cremation will take place following the service and burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Community Church, Asia’s Hope or Alzheimer’s Association of America.
