Christine M. Weade

Aug. 9, 1928-Jan. 31, 2013

LIGONIER — Christine M. Weade passed away Thursday following a brief illness at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville at the age of 84.

She was born Aug. 9, 1928, the daughter of Bleve and Cathrine (Seals) Gumm in Salem.

On Sept. 25, 1947, she married Howard Weade. He preceded her in death in October 2005.

She is survived by two children, Ron (Dianne) Weade, Ashville, N.C., and Deb (Kenny) Miller, Ligonier; three grandchildren, Tanner (Catrina) Miller, Ligonier, Casey (Chelsey) Weade, Fort Wayne, and Brittney Miller, Ligonier; six siblings, Delia Nix, James Gumm, Cathrine Schlabach, Geraldine Halsey, Virginia Baker and Johnny Gumm; and her companion, Richard Swank

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers, Therman, Harrsion and Donald Gumm.

Christine retired from Lydall in Ligonier and also worked at Essex for many years. She enjoyed playing euchre, sewing, line dancing, daily walks and spending time with her grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at Yeager Funeral Home in Ligonier from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral Monday. The Rev. Paul Hoffmaster will officiate.

Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the G. Martin Kenny Foundation.
