GOSHEN —Reinhold O. Gunderman, 86, passed away Wednesday at his home from complications of Parkinson’s disease, which he had suffered from for many years.

He was born May 12, 1926 in Goshen, to Harry M. and Clara Mae (Swihart) Gunderman.

He married Velda Irene Schrock July 28, 1946, in Goshen.  She survives.

Also surviving are five children, Terry (Lola) Gunderman, Goshen, Diane (Kenny) Reed, Union, Mich., Patricia (Jeff) Gaugler, Granger, Michael (Brenda) Gunderman, Howard, Colo., and Susan (Thomas) St. John, Alvordton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth (Woodrow) Wilson, Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Ronald Paul; an infant great-grandson, Brandon Troyer; and a half brother, Harry Gunderman Jr.

A lifetime area resident, Mr. Gunderman owned and operated the family farm on C.R. 115 for more than 50 years raising both crops and livestock.  He also worked as an independent contractor, building homes in the Goshen and Dunlap area.

A member of the Goshen Dunkard Brethren Church, he loved traveling with family to Colorado and spending time at the hunting cabin he had built. Starting in 1951 and until the age of 75, he enjoyed big game hunting.

Very much a family man, he shared his passion for outdoor sports by taking his children and grandchildren snow skiing, ice skating, sledding, tobogganing and roller skating.

Friends may call 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where an 11 a.m.  funeral service will be conducted Monday. The Revs. Dennis St. John and Thomas St. John of Pleasant Ridge Dunkard Brethren Church, West Unity, Ohio, will officiate.

Burial will follow in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen.

Memorial contributions may be made to Center for Hospice Care, Torreon Navajo Mission, New Mexico; African Mission or Faith Mission, Elkhart.
