ELKHART — Michelle Renee (Miller) Omic´, 38, 56961 Pearl Ann Drive, died Saturday at 3:38 a.m. at Elkhart General Hospital. She was five months pregnant with a baby daughter, Leila, and became ill at home on Saturday.

She was born June 2, 1971 in Iowa City, Iowa, to Don L. and Isy (Vander Werf) Miller, Elkhart.

She married Armin “Archie” Omic´ Feb. 10, 1996, in Bosnia.

She is survived by her parents; her husband, who is serving with the United States Army in Iraq; daughter, Jade Isabella Omic´, age 4; maternal grandmother, Martha Vander Werf, Newton, Kan.; brothers, Tony (Leah) Miller, Goshen, and AJ (Bonnie) Miller, Foley, Minn.; niece, Madison Miller, and nephew, Quinn Miller, both of Goshen.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Emina, who died in 2008; and a brother, Don Miller Jr., who died in 1984.

She was a 1989 graduate of Iowa Mennonite School, and received a degree in elementary education in 1993 from Goshen College. She also earned an associate’s degree in accounting. She was a very loving and devoted mother to her daughter, Jade.

A memorial service will take place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at River Oaks Community Church, Elkhart. The Rev. Scott Tilley will lead the service.

A committal service will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kalona Cemetery, Kalona, Iowa.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Omic´ family for Jade’s future educational needs.
