MIDDLEBURY — Larry G. Bontrager, 59, 300 Pointe Blvd., died at 4:26 p.m. Saturday in Union, Mich.
He was born March 30, 1950, in Goshen to Gideon and Verna (Chupp) Bontrager, and was a lifetime area resident.
He married Norma Jean Bauman June 12, 1971, in Goshen. She survives.
He was a realtor, broker and owner of Bontrager Hardies Realty, and was involved in the development and management of real estate in Elkhart County for 31 years.
He was a member of the Nappanee Missionary Church, a past president of the Elkhart County Board of Realtors, member of the Indiana Association of Realtors, a past committee member of the Governmental Affairs Finance Committee at the state level, and member of Goshen Rotary. He was instrumental in the development of the Boys & Girls Club of Middlebury and was happiest when fishing, especially on the Holitna River in Alaska.
Along with his wife, he is survived by daughters Natalie J. (John) Thomas, Indianapolis, and Janelle Renee (Jason) Martin, Charlotte, N.C.; mother, Verna Bontrager, Goshen; sister Karen (Bert) Stutzman, Goshen; and brothers Gene Bontrager, Goshen, and James Bontrager, Winona Lake.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gideon, and brother, Paul Bontrager.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral Wednesday at Nappanee Missionary Church. The service will be led by the Rev. David Engbrecht of the church.
Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Goshen.
