LIGONIER — Melvin Richard Cory, 91, of Ligonier, died on December 19, 2009, at his residence in Ligonier.
Mr. Cory was born on March 3, 1918, in Roundup, Mont., to the late Joseph and Addis (Black) Cory.
Mr. Cory retired from the United State Postal Service after several years of dedicated service. He was also a member of the Ligonier United Methodist Church, West Noble American Legion Post # 243 and the Elks.
He is survived by a son Randall and Vickie Cory of Winona Lake; one granddaughter, Sarah Cory of Atlanta, Ga.; one step-grandson, Andrew Finnigan of Westfield, Ind.; one step-granddaughter, Erina Quackenbush of Garrett, and four-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife La Vonne in 2003; and brother Ralph Cory.
A graveside service took place Wednesday at the Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.
The West Noble American Legion Post # 243 conducted military graveside services.
