Ernest J. Miller

SHIPSHEWANA — Ernest J. Miller, 93, died Sunday at 12:40 p.m. at his residence.

He was born March 20, 1919, in LaGrange, to Irwin J. and Mabel (Yoder) Miller. On Sept. 28, 1940, in Shipshewana, he married Ruth Kathryn Mishler. She died April 24, 2011.

Surviving are two sons, Dewayne J. (Linda) Miller, Middlebury, and Gerald Keith Miller, Chandler, Ariz.;  two daughters-in-law, Judy Miller, Middlebury, and Marilyn Miller, Goshen; four sisters, Waneta Miller, Shipshewana, Betty (Vernon) Roth, Breslau, Canada, Sue Ann Byler, Goshen, and Joann Buerge, Indianapolis; three brothers, Richard Miller, Engadine, Mich., Kenneth (Bertha) Miller, Goshen, and James (Barbara) Miller, Shipshewana; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; three sons, Franklin J. Miller, Ralph Edward Miller and Dennis Kalb Miller; a daughter, Jennifer Kay Miller; and his parents.

He was a farmer and a member of Shore Mennonite Church. He was a salesman for DeKalb Seed for 22 years.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Shore Mennonite Church, Shipshewana. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, also at the church.

Services will be conducted by Pastor Carl Horner. Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.

Memorials may be given to MCC Relief.
