Marian Louise Pope, 89, passed away Monday at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen.

Marian was born March 29, 1921 in LaPorte, to Orton G. and Myrtle (Taylor) Culver. After graduating from high school, she attended South Bend College of Commerce. She worked three months then finished business college. In January of 1941, she began doing secretarial work at the Studebaker Aviation Plant. At the end of World War II, she moved to the administration building and worked in the credit department until 1963.

On May 12, 1956 in Westminster Presbyterian Church, South Bend, she married Reginald M. Pope. He preceded her in death Dec. 27, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two half sisters, Dorothy Knight and Helen Larson.

She leaves a sister, Betty Ray, in Fort Scott, Kan.; three nephews and their families.

Marian was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for 50 years. She and her husband moved to Greencroft, a retirement community in Goshen, in 1997. They joined First Presbyterian Church in May of 1997.

Friends may call from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. on Thursday at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. Eighth Street, Mishawaka, where funeral services will begin at 5:45 p.m. with the Rev. James Pitts officiating.

Entombment will be Friday at Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum, South Bend.

Contributions in memory of Marian may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
