GOSHEN — Verla J. Blough, 92, died Wednesday at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
She was born April 15, 1920, to Edwin and Leah Adeline Sriver.
Verla married Robert D. Blough April 24, 1954. He preceded her in death in 1980.
A homemaker and 55-year member of the First English Lutheran Church, she was involved in Women’s Circle Meeting and Bible studies. She was a Blue Bird leader, a volunteer at The Window, a member of Eastern Star at the Masonic Lodge, Goshen, and belonged to a sorority with a membership of 35 women. The last two original members were Verla and Marge Loney, a good friend for 75 years. She enjoyed playing Pinochle, Bridge, and Scrabble with anyone who thought they could beat her.
Verla visited, traveled, and enjoyed every city and state in this beautiful and scenic nation of ours, except Alaska and Hawaii. Her all-time favorite city was New Orleans, because of her love of jazz and blues.
She is survived by her five daughters, Janice (Carl) Lundvall, Lititz, Pa., Bonnie Jo (Terry) Neff, Orlando, Fla., Kathy Oesch, Goshen, June Huntzinger, Minot, N.D., and Jean (Steve) Gaffer, Goshen; a son, Tim Blough, Goshen; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; three brothers-in-law; and a son, Larry Plummer, who died in 2002.
