Eleanor B. Seymour

NAPPANEE — Eleanor B. Seymour, age 97, of 701 ½ W. Walnut St., Nappanee, died peacefully in her home of natural causes Thursday, May 24, 2012. She was born October 28, 1914 in Valparaiso, IN to Hale and Carolyn Lembke Crisman. On April 12, 1936 in Valparaiso, she married Hershel Seymour. He preceded in death March 20, 2006.

Mr. and Mrs. Seymour moved to Nappanee in 1996 after living in Hunker, PA for 52 years.

Mrs. Seymour was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of United Methodist Churches in Valparaiso, New Stanton, PA, and Nappanee. It is difficult to express how devoted she was to her work in the church and to our Lord. She loved that work and served in many capacities over the years. She especially enjoyed singing in the church choirs, directing the choir and playing the organ in New Stanton for many years. Eleanor also had a heart for missions. She supported many charitable organizations and ministered to those in need around her. Eleanor dedicated her life to service in the church. She also loved to cook. Eleanor organized a local senior citizens luncheon each month in New Stanton for several years before their move to Nappanee.

Mrs. Seymour is survived by daughters, Karen Seymour, Kokomo, IN, Gail Wing, Nappanee, IN, Lois (Clair) Rader, Aliquippa, PA, a daughter-in-law, Elaine Seymour, Arlington, VA, 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, and sisters, Margaret Makovsky, Ft. Myers, FL, Martha Ashton, Valparaiso, IN, and Jean (David) Willis, Greenfield, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, John E. Seymour, a great grandson, Benjamin Shallenberger, and a brother, Everett Crisman.

Family and Friends may call from 5-8 Friday, June 1, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 2 at Nappanee United Methodist Church. Rev. Linda Craig will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bourbon, IN.

Memorial contributions may be given to Nappanee United Methodist Church Missions or the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
