Dorothy M. Schneider, 93, died at 7:25 p.m. Sunday at Elkhart General Hospital.
Dorothy was born Feb. 7, 1919 in Elkhart County, to Cecil Wilson and Nettie Jane (Dukes) McConnell.
She married Max Schneider Feb. 14, 1942, in Topeka. He preceded her in death Sept. 6, 1975.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Harry) Hood of Bristol; two grandchildren, Jeff (Kris) Hood, Robin (David) Lee; four stepgrandchildren, Mike Schneider, Tami Meadows, Gisela Schneider and Marla Bronson; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Katherine McConnell Lee, Jakob and Max Hood; step great-grandchildren Corbie Latham, Benjamin Meadows, Diana Bronson and Bradley Sweatt; two sisters, Helen Brown and Lucille Wert; three brothers, Forest, Willis and John McConnell.
A stepson, John Schneider, preceded her in death.
Dorothy worked in the production department at Whitehall for 34 years, retiring in 1984. She was an active member of the Bristol United Methodist Church, Pythian Sisters and the Moose, Elkhart. She organized events and often held offices. Dorothy enjoyed golfing at Old Orchard, thoroughly enjoyed arts, crafts, sewing, cooking, gardening and playing cards.
Friends and family may call Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Bristol United Methodist Church, with an 11 a.m. memorial service following. Pastor Fred Stayton will officiate.
Inurnment will be at Chapel of Hope at Rice Cemetery.
