Roger D. Smith

ELKHART — Roger D. Smith, 59, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Eastlake Terrace, Elkhart.

He was born Jan. 3, 1953, in Elkhart to John G. and Donnabelle V. (Rogers) Smith.

Surviving are a brother, Raymond (Marianne) Smith of Venetia, Pa.; a stepbrother, Robert Fuchs of Lynbrook, N.Y.; two nieces, Rebecca Smith of Manassas, Va., and Elizabeth (Jon) Crow of Pikesville, Md.; and a nephew, Mark Smith of Bridgeville, Pa.

Roger was preceded in death by his father and mother and stepfather William O. Fuchs.

After graduating high school, Roger served in the US Air Force from 1974 to 1977.

He worked in maintenance and manufacturing positions for several companies until health issues disabled him at an early age.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home at Cobblestone Crossing, Elkhart, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery, Granger.
