Mary Ellen Bontrager

Mary Ellen Bontrager, 74, of Wolcottville, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. She lived her lifetime in LaGrange County.

She was born on June 27, 1936, in LaGrange County to Samuel R. and Susan (Miller) Bontrager.

On March 19, 1959, she married Levi Bontrager in LaGrange County. He survives in Wolcottville.

Also surviving is a step-mother, Miriam Bontrager of Wolcottville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ervin S. and Ida Mae Bontrager and Orva S. and Wilma Bontrager, all of Shipshewana, and Samuel R. Bontrager Jr. and his wife Fannie Mae of Wolcottville; five step-sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillie and Ervin Ray Hochstetler of Shipshewana, Louise and Clayton Lambright of LaGrange, Barbara and David Hostetler of Millersburg, Laura and Richard Slabach of Shipshewana and Lena and Devon Miller of Millersburg; three step-brothers and sisters-in-law, Floyd and Irene Barkman of Goshen, Levi and LeAnna Barkman of Millersburg and Pete and Mary Barkman of Wolcottville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a niece, Ida Fern Hochstetler; and a nephew, Vernon Bontrager.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at the Harley Bender residence, 2220 W. 550 South, Wolcottville with the Bishop Nathan Miller and home ministers officiating. Burial will take place in Miller Cemetery, rural LaGrange.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 4, after 1 p.m. at the family residence, 6045 S. 200 West, Wolcottville, and all day on Sunday, Sept. 5.
