Juanita Stackhouse Hoffer

March 15, 1923-Jan. 2, 2013

HUNTINGTON — Juanita Stackhouse Hoffer, 89, formerly of Nappanee, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Norwood Healthcare and Rehabilitation, Huntington, where she had resided the past three years.  

She was born March 15, 1923 in Etna Green, to Owen and Cleo Utter Stackhouse.  She lived her lifetime in the Nappanee area.  Juanita graduated from Etna Green High School in 1941 and attended one year of college at Indiana University.  

She married Buell A. Hoffer Jan. 26, 1946, in Etna Green. He preceded her in death March 6, 2009.  

Mrs. Hoffer was a homemaker.  She was a member of Mount Tabor Church of God, where she had been involved in the WCSC and had been choir director.  Her family was the love of her life and she loved preparing meals for her family and friends.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Susan (Tim) Herrli, Elkhart; sons, Timothy (Loretta) Hoffer, Indianapolis, and Mark (Beth) Hoffer, Huntington; grandchildren, Brandon (Melea) Hoffer, Bourbon, Bryant (Amy) Hoffer, Indianapolis, Tanner and Trevor Herrli, Elkhart, Shelly (Robert) Goetz, Huntington, and Lauren (Brian) Herrli-Warner, Indianapolis; stepgrandsons, Matt Sundheimer, Fort Wayne, and Aaron Sundheimer, Indianapolis; and 11 great grandchildren.  

She was also preceded in death by a brother, DeVoe Stackhouse.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today  at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the funeral service which will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Tabor Church of God, Etna Green.  The Rev. Jeremy Grueser will officiate.

Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Mount Tabor Church of God.
