Maxine E. Ryman

Nov. 6, 1921-Jan. 9, 2013

NAPPANEE — Maxine E. Ryman, 91, died after a long illness at 7:48 a.m. Wednesday at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Milford. She had been a resident there since October 2011.

Maxine was born Nov. 6, 1921 in Brewster, Ohio, to William and Flossie (Warren) Gaut.

Mrs. Ryman had lived most of her life in this area after moving here from Ohio. She married Donald L. Ryman, Sept. 17, 1938, in Goshen. He preceded her in death Dec. 19, 2007.  

Maxine was a loving mother and a homemaker.

Mrs. Ryman is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Ralph) Wakely, Nappanee; a son, Larry E. (Janice) Ryman, Milford; six grandchildren, Tammy Stewart, Scott Wakely, Tracy Ryman, Jody Wakely, Terry Ryman and Lori Wakely; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister, Dora Frances Gosbin, Crumstown; a half sister, Linda (Allen) Corwin, Wakarusa; stepbrothers, Glen (Julia) Reed, Nappanee, William Reed, Elkhart, and George “Fat” Reed Jr., Mentone; and stepsister, Lucille Motz, Wakarusa.

She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Brandon Stewart; brother, Charles Gaut; and sisters, Betty Miller, Cora Louise Truex and Glenice Reed.

Family and friends may call from Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, where funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday. Gil Reed, Maxine’s nephew, will officiate.

Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
