Aurelio Santiago Sr.

Feb. 24, 1931-Feb. 2, 2013

SYRACUSE — Aurelio Santiago Sr., 81, passed away Saturday at Elkhart Hospice House.

He was born on Feb. 24, 1931 in Cayey, Puerto Rico, to Augustin and Eusevia (Diaz) Santiago.

In addition to his parents, a daughter, Eda Taylor, and son-in-law, Robert L. Kramer, preceded him in death.

On Feb. 2, 1958, he married Benita Negron in Chicago, Ill. She survives.

Also surviving are his daughters, Esther Kramer of Lake Wawasee, and Neraida (Pastor Terry) Cochran of Elkhart; sons, Angelo (Michele) Santiago of Goshen, Aurelio (Lindy) Santiago Jr. of Middlebury, and Gabriel (Gretchen) Santiago of Goshen; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. His two brothers and three sisters in Puerto Rico survive as well.

Aurelio formerly worked at L.K. Industries in Illinois, as a carpet layer for A.J. Miller & Sons and at ESI Meats in Bristol. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.

A celebration of Aurelio’s life will begin at noon Thursday at New Creation Fellowship, 30190 C.R. 10, Granger, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. The Rev. David Klahr will officiate.

Cremation has taken place at the request of the deceased.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Creation Fellowship in his memory.
