Betty Lou Hire

Oct. 24, 1941-Nov. 21, 2012

LIGONIER — Betty Lou Hire, 71, of Ligonier, passed away Wednesday at Goshen Hospital at 2:50 p.m.

She was born Oct. 24, 1941 to the late Arthur Dale and Marcella Virginia (Keim) Coy.

On June 27, 1958, she married David Ray Hire, who survives.

She is also survived by three children, Greg (Melanie) Hire of Goshen, Trent (Brenda) Hire of Ligonier and Jennifer Christian of Ligonier; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wanda Brown of Goshen, Virginia (Michael) Wyland of Milford; and Pat (Arthur) Horn of Mentone; three sisters-in-law, Gwen Coy of Arlington, Texas, Janet Coy of Fort Wayne and Sandra Hartman of Albion.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Arthur Dale Coy Jr., Marvin Ray Coy and foster brother George Carter.

Betty was a lifetime member of Richville United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Timber Ridge Golf Club. She retired from nursing in 2003, was very devoted to her family and loved to golf.

Family and friends will be received at Yeager Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, and from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25.

There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Monday, Nov. 26, at Richville United Methodist Church, 11009 C.R. 50, Route 1, Ligonier. Pastor Tamra Gerber will officiate.

Burial will follow at Hire Cemetery in Benton Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to Richville United Methodist Church.
