Randy Christophel was recently named president and chief executive officer of Indiana University Health Goshen. He takes over for the retiring Jim Dague. Before his recent promotion, Christophel, 49, served as chief financial officer, the chief operating officer for the hospital and related health-care businesses.
He has worked in Goshen for the past 17 years.
Explain a little about yourself
I have been married for 27 years to my wife, Lori. We have three children — Jared (20 years old, sophomore at Hesston College in Hesston, Kan.), Derek (19 years old, senior at Bethany Christian High School) and Taylor (18 years old, senior at Bethany Christian High School). Our family enjoys camping, traveling and attending various sporting events that the children are participating in.
Where did you grow up?
Lori and I grew up in Elkhart.
What schools did you attend?
Lori attended Elkhart Memorial High School and I attended Concord High School.
What is your fondest memory of this community?
Our family enjoys the First Friday events and attending high school sporting and other events.
Describe the essence of this community in your eyes
The people of this community are the best kept secret and our biggest asset. The friendly, hard-working, skilled and always-willing-to-help attitudes make this a wonderful place to raise a family.
What about this community would you like to see changed or improved?
We need our economy to continue to improve and to thrive so that everyone has appropriate opportunities for employment.
