THE GOSHEN NEWS
David Shenk is a 2009 Goshen College graduate. He is one year into his two-year term of working with Colombian refugees in Quito, Ecuador, through the Mennonite Mission Network.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Harrisonburg, Va. When I finished high school, I decided to move to Goshen and attend Goshen College where I lived from 2005-2010.
What is your fondest memory of this community?
My fondest memories of living in Goshen are enjoying the spring-time weather outside with friends when we would ride bikes, play campus golf, kickball, explore the forested areas and enjoy the nature surrounding Goshen.
Describe the essence of this community in your eyes
To me, Goshen is a small, easy-going town filled with unique activities and opportunities provided by the diversity of progressive thinkers and doers.
What about this community would you like to improve?
The relationship between the Hispanic and Anglo populations.
What is this community’s best-kept secret?
I think Goshen’s best kept secret is its wealth of diversity in terms of culture, cuisine and activities.
